What is stand alone?

A stand-alone is a computer system that can operate independently, with no need for connection to a network or another computer. It typically has its own operating system, applications, and storage space. Stand-alone systems were common before the advent of widespread network connectivity and were commonly used by individuals and small businesses. Today, stand-alone systems are less common but may still be used in situations where network connectivity is not available or desired, such as in certain industrial or military applications. Stand-alone systems are typically more secure than networked systems, as they are not vulnerable to many network-based attacks. However, they may be more difficult to update and maintain, and they require more resources than networked systems.
